We Service Nation-wide (South Africa)
Our Mission
The uncertainty of change brought in the challenge of finding a balanced solution between trading and homologation within the South African motor industry and setting up a link between the industry and the Department of Transport (DTI). Unquestionably, a strong system is necessary for the MIB (manufacturer, importer and builder) of South Africa to satisfy the national regulator NRCS(Natural Regulator of Compulsory Standards) in audits.
How HOMSS came about ...
Pressure from the national regulator to give evidence of compliance in accordance with the legislation of motor vehicles and their trailers, as well as the legal requirements for company(s) or corporation(s) manufacturing, building or importing motor vehicles and the scarcity of resources and expertise, resulted in the founding of HOMSS. HOMSS is a professional harmonized company, which can provide a service to enable any MIB in the automotive industry to comply with all relevant legislation.
HOMSS is a responsible, self-disciplined organization with excellent organizational skills and which complies with the latest legislation, regulations and standards in the performing of its duties. HOMSS can service the industry globally and can assist with type approval.

The reason you should use HOMSS is to ensure the continuous trade and business of a MIB. The MIB must comply with the relevant legislation, standards and code of practice. The national regulator audits MIB's on a frequency of ± once every 18 (eighteen) months. If shortcomings are found by the national regulator and not resolved by the MIB's, the national regulator can terminate the sale of commodities by deleting and de-linking model NaTIS numbers. Deregistration as a MIB at NDOT (National Department of Transport) could also result.
HOMSS was established due to the lack of expertise in homologation and other legislation enforced in South Africa. South Africa has a complex homologation system, and the MIB's often assign the task of homologation and legislation to an employee as a secondary task. The risk of a company not complying with all relevant standards and legislation can render the company to loose model registration number (model NaTIS).
Financing institutions (banks) also insist that vehicles and companies comply with relevant requirements.
